The Estimator II is responsible for preparing estimates for projects which may include preliminary pricing through full estimates. The Estimator II must develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors in order to ensure competitive and complete pricing for all estimates. The Estimator II is responsible for following proper policies and procedures, and complying with the company’s ethical standards and conflict of interest policy. The Estimator II will use software and other available tools in the preparation of an estimate.

Assists the Project Managers.
Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or superintendents to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
Develop & analyze project schedules
Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
Proficient with an estimating software proficient with their division (HCSS, Bluebeam, Planswift, InEight, etc.).
Develops and maintains supplier and subcontractor relationships.
Assists with negotiating/writing contracts.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Supports and adheres to the matrix organizational format.
Models and reinforces safety as a top priority of the organization. Always wears a hard hat and other appropriate personal protective equipment in the field.
Practices the QM philosophy of continuous improvement.
Ensures client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through efficient handling of issues.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Skills
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related technical field and 5 years of related estimating experience. One (1) year of field experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
AIA, AIC, ASPE, BIM, CPC, DBIA, EIT, LEED and/or other relevant certifications are encouraged.
Technical and Mental Skills
Reads, analyzes and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Effectively presents information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
Comprehends, selects and applies appropriate mathematical principles.
Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions.
Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; hear and speak; and is occasionally required to smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
